Hey y’all! So you booked a session with me and now what? This might be your very first session and you might have no idea how to prepare for it. Well don’t worry because I’m here to help! I want to make sure you feel as comfortable as possible for your session because it’s so important to me that you guys to feel like yourselves. The more you feel like yourselves, the more the photos will represent your relationship better! I want you to be able to look back at your gallery and see your relationship exactly how it was in that moment. I want you to see yourselves having fun, laughing, being intimate, and acting natural! So with that, here are some helpful tips on how to prepare for your session!
- Spend the day together! Act like the whole day is a date day and spend quality time with each other. This way, once you’re at the session, you will already feel so much more intimate! Throughout the day, treat each other extra special and take the time to really make your person feel loved. During our session, I will most likely have you guys whisper why you love each other in the others ear, have you guys tell each other inside jokes, and try to get you both to focus on the details of your relationship, so by spending quality time together the whole day, this will be so much easier to do and more comfortable!
- On the drive to the session, listen to fun music that will get you both excited and happy! If you have fun on the way to the shoot, the shoot will be fun too! I like to play music during sessions as well so the dance party just keeps going! By having a good time on the way there, you’ll be in the mindset to have fun which is perfect for my shoots! I love to have fun with you guys and dance and laugh so if you are already doing that, we’ll be able to be more comfortable with each other right away!
- Come with an open mind. This is definitely the biggest tip I could give y’all. Coming with an open mind is going to be the best way to get the most out of your session. I know you might be thinking, “oh but we’re so awkward” and I can always help more “awkward” couples come out of their shell, but if you come with an open mind, it will make the whole session so much easier and comfortable for you! I don’t believe there’s such a thing as an awkward couple. I know how it can be weird being in front of the camera, especially if it’s your first time. But if you are up for an adventure and a fun time, I’ll take care of the rest! I do my best to get you guys to move around and have fun by giving you prompts instead of leaving you there to figure it out and wonder “where do my arms go?”. As long as you come to the shoot ready for anything, I promise we will have fun! Trust me, I’m a total dork and will embarrass myself way more than you think you will LOL.
Ok are you feeling more ready now?! I hope all those tips put you at ease a bit! I know it’s not natural to be in front of a camera, but documenting your love and your special time together is so important, so don’t let the fear of the photoshoot being awkward keep you from doing that. I fully believe in dong photoshoots to have these photos to look back on this time of your lives. I want to capture those moments for you that you don’t want to forget so make sure to come to your session totally prepared to make the most out of it!
